Today is the Day!

Today is the last day for your ballot to be counted!

Is your ballot still sitting on your desk? Please, pull it out and either drop it off in the ballot box located behind the county building at 1601 Brodie Avenue, or vote in person between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. today at the Estes Valley Community Center, at 660 Community Drive.

This is a year of opportunity for our district, community, and country with three well-qualified candidates who are all similar in their commitment to quality education and not being racist, transphobic, bigots.

Peggy Mauerman

Danielle Wolf and Courtney Cabrera are incumbent seeking re-election , Peggy Mauerman is a new face promising to keep up the good work of the current board.

This campaign has been dramatic, following several years of a school district trying to deal with significant challenges. No matter what the outcome, the real challenge will be on the elected School Board to Walk The Walk and prioritize the whole child, supporting the teachers and staff in their work. Strong ongoing public awareness and participation will play a major role in the success or failure of the elected board.

As children flood through the doors daily, it’s hard to imagine we are waging the pandemic war. One would assume that there would be massive tears as they exit their cars and don their freedom stealing masks. Imagine the horror when they happily skip inside and greet their friends and teachers with smiles. Yes, you can tell they are smiling. Throughout the day masks are on and off when allowed. These kids know the routine, and couldn't care less. Outside when masks are allowed to come off, half of them run wild and free amongst the playground with masks still on. Imagine that! How can these children care so little about something the adults in their life obsess over? One can only conclude that these small humans have opinions and rights all of their own making. Such as the right to have fun. To go to school. To laugh and eat with their friends. Sounds a lot like freedom right? These things are still happening in Estes Park Schools and we can thank the colorful barriers over their mouths for it. So next time you feel inclined to single handedly ignore or insult the mask mandate and those who put it in place, remember this little tip: your kids don’t care nearly as much as you do.
